THANK YOU MID-MISSOURI!

It has been the mission of the Salute to Veterans Memorial Day Weekend Corporation "to Honor and Remember those who have served and are serving in our Armed Forces, Guard, Reserves and our Allies."  We have accomplished this mission thanks to the dedication, contributions and countless hours committed by many wonderful individuals, volunteers, and organizations.

Unfortunately, all things run their course. It is with heavy hearts we announce that
Salute to Veterans has ended it's mission and ceased activities.

To all Veterans:  know that you will always be appreciated and remembered.   THAT mission will never end!

To all of our volunteers and supporters:  THANK YOU.   Stand down and take pride in a job very well done.

David Moore

On this Memorial Day, I want to remember Mary Posner.  This kind woman did not serve in the military, however she was recognized and respected by a huge number of people in all branches of the military from Privates to Generals and Admirals.  For over 30 years this gentle woman devoted practically every day of her life Honoring and Remembering Veterans and serving members of the Military.  She was the co-founder (along with her husband) of the Salute to Veterans Corporation, Memorial Day Weekend Celebration, Organizing hundreds of volunteers, community outreach, statues, and memorials in Columbia Missouri, parades, banquets and countless events.   She was the driving force behind a two day air show that grew to become one of the largest "free to the public" air shows in the United States, drawing millions of visitors over the years.  During the Air Show every year, one of the most solemn events was when the names of the fallen were read, followed by the "Taps" solo.
Mary had a huge impact on my life, and the lives of hundreds of people that she met over the years.  I know there are a lot of people thinking about her today, because she is no longer with us, and there's a huge hole in a lot of lives.
